Whole Life Insurance - Things You Need To Know

It is unfortunate that when you get a whole life insurance quote online much of the important details are omitted. The average person knows little or nothing about this policy. If people had more information they could make a more informed decision on what they are about to purchase. I am one of those who tout whole life insurance with no apology, as this policy has it's place in the insurance portfolio of many people. This policy fits some needs that term life insurance simply cannot fulfill.

Permanent Life Insurance

Whole life insurance can be described as permanent life insurance. This suggests that you can keep this policy for as long as you choose, even if it is to age 100. A term life policy simply cannot guarantee that.

Cash Values

Whole life insurance have what is called "guaranteed cash values". Some people like this idea because they may choose to use these values as a sort of saving to assist with the college costs or even for a supplemental retirement fund.

Whole Life Insurance Dividends

All whole life policies are not the same. Some life insurance companies have a great history of paying dividends to their policy owners on a very regular basis. This does not say that they always will be in a position to pay a dividend. Dividends are not guaranteed. There are some life insurance companies that do not perform very well.

If a life insurance company is generally successful with their investments and do a good job at keeping expenses down they usually can pay a dividend.

There are several options that you can choose from but most people have a tendency to apply their dividends to the purchase of "paid up additions". These are little single premium whole life insurance policies.

The other available dividend options areas follows. You can leave your dividends to accumulate interest or you can use them to reduce premiums. You can also take them in cash each year.

Why Cash Values And Dividends Are Important

If at some time in the future you should need to put your hands on some emergency cash and that money is available through your cash values plus dividends you may take a percentage of this in the form of a policy loan. Even though you decide how you repay this loan you need to keep in mind that there is interest charged on this loan. In addition the death benefit of your policy is reduced by the amount owed and any unpaid accumulated interest. Another thing to note is that if you have an outstanding loan on your whole life insurance policy the amount of dividend paid will also be affected.

Nonforfeiture Values

Another important consideration when buying whole life insurance policies are nonforfeiture values. These options allow you to protect yourself from loss in the event you are unable to continue premium payments.

Automatic Premium Loans

With most whole life insurance policies if a premium payment is missed the automatic premium loan is timely activated to prevent the policy from going into a state of lapse. In other words, you do not lose your insurance as long as there is sufficient cash value to keep it in force. Interest is charged on this amount just like any other premium loan.

Extended Term Insurance

Instead of using an automatic premium loan to keep your whole life insurance policy in force you may choose to use what is called Extended Term Insurance to keep the policy in force. This is a Term Life Insurance policy for as many years as the cash value of the policy will purchase. If you should die during this period the full face amount of the policy will be paid to your chosen beneficiary. The only disadvantage is that with this option your cash values plus any dividend earned will dissipate over time.

Reduced Paid Up Policy

Another option you have if you are unable to pay the premiums for your policy is to elect to keep a reduced amount of life insurance in force rather than the full amount you initially purchased. This policy, though for a reduced amount, will be fully paid up and you will never pay a premium again. The reduced death benefit will be paid upon the death of the insured.

Cash Surrender Value

You may also surrender your policy for its cash value plus any dividends as another option. If there is any outstanding indebtedness on the policy it will be deducted from the amount you receive.

Waiver Of Premium Rider

When purchasing your whole life insurance policy you have the option of adding the "waiver of premium rider" an a very minimal cost. You may find it beneficial as if you should become disabled the life insurance company will waive your premiums for as long as you are disabled even if it is for the rest of your life. You must, however, be disabled for a minimal period of time, usually six months. Whenever you are able to return to your job you continue payments of your policy. Nothing is owed for the period you didn't pay.

Accidental Death Benefit

Another valuable rider you can add to your whole life insurance policy is the "accidental death benefit rider". If you should die in an accident the life insurance company will pay twice the face amount to your beneficiaries. Some life insurance companies allow you to purchase an additional unit of the accidental death benefit rider. In other words, your family would receive three times the face amount of your whole life insurance policy if you died in an accident.

Whole life insurance premiums are higher than term life insurance premiums. If you feel the abovementioned benefits are worth the additional cost this type of life insurance may be for you.

Keep Your Dog Healthy By Homemade Dog Food Recipe

When you think about it, what does your dog need from its food in order to be healthy?

Today our pets have a wide variety to meet their tastes and needs and we have our choice of what kind of food we can choose to feed them. Despite the variety, pet foods usually fall into three major categories. These categories are: Grocery store foods, these types of dog and pet foods are usually found in grocery stores and mass marketed retailers and can contain lower quality, less expensive ingredients. The second category is "premium dog foods," which can also be found in grocery's stores but are also found in pet stores and through your local veterinarian's office. These types of foods are usually made from some higher quality ingredients and are usually made evident by the expense of the food. Some of these pet foods though can contain lower quality ingredients that you aren't aware of. The third and final category is homemade dog food.More and more people are beginning to make their dog's food at home rather than buying commercial formulas. Homemade dog food doesn't contain any substances that could possibly be harmful to your dog's health such as artificial coloring and artificial flavors.

Another reason to make homemade dog food is the preservatives added to the commercial dog food. Homemade dog food has the benefit of optimum freshness without preservatives.

There are dogs that would greatly benefit from a homemade diet. Some dogs who suffer from allergies that cause severe itching may find relief once switched from commercial dog food to a homemade diet.

Processed dog food is a relatively new product and scientists don't fully understand the differences between commercial food and a diet of fresh food. There may be problems occurring in a dog's health because he is being given food that has had the nutrients cooked out of it and then sprayed back on.

Would you like to prolong the quality and length of your dog's life by 135%?You should keep your dog healthy by homemade dog food.

Kentucky Personal Injury Lawyers

Personal injury law is a specialized branch of law. It is often referred as "tort law." Personal injury refers to any physical, mental or emotional injury caused to an individual. Personal injury can occur due to number of reasons such as slip and fall, auto accidents, exposure to hazardous products, use of defective products, libel, slander, medical malpractice and animal bites. Personal injury law may vary according to the state where the injury occurred. Generally, all the states have standard procedures for filing the lawsuits. For personal injuries that have temporary effects, it is possible to receive compensation immediately. However, some personal injuries may have dire consequences. They may permanently disable a person, which may leave him jobless for life. To receive maximum compensation for the losses, it is advisable to hire a lawyer who has all the necessary expertise to deal with personal injury cases. If a personal injury has occurred in Kentucky, it is recommended to assign the case to a lawyer who is aware of the prevailing personal injury laws there.

Every state has its own statute of limitations that decide the time an individual has to file a personal injury lawsuit. An individual usually has one year to file a personal injury case in Kentucky.

For receiving any compensation for most personal injury claims, the lawyers have to establish that the injury occurred due to the negligence of the defendant. In cases of product liability cases, lawyers have to establish that the victim suffered a loss, in spite of following specified instructions. For receiving claims for losses resulting from medical malpractice, lawyers have to consult medical experts. They investigate and study the medical records of the victims to verify if the damage was actually caused due to negligence of the hospital staff or medical professionals.

It is advisable to hire a lawyer who has a proven track record. Victims can also shortlist the names of a few personal injury lawyers from the Internet. They can personally meet them or get their case reviewed online for free. Personal injury lawyers in Kentucky, usually charge their clients on a contingent fee basis.

Attorneys Helping Immigrants In America

Someone who has dreams of becoming an American and a desire to live in another country is an immigrant. Immigration is coming in from the South and moving to the North. This represents those in small underdeveloped countries moving to the ones with a better standard of living.

The Office of the Secretary on Internal Migration and Development studies show immigration levels are supporting this fact. Migrant workers are moving into the ninety one million countries in 2005. Migrant workers will also move from good countries to the bad. You can surely see how the amount of migrants comes to need a lawyer.

To find greener grass or better standards of living, they have personally chosen to say goodbye to the native land and leave their homestead and move to a new land. The countries in the Middle East are shelter for many nationalities deciding to stay because of finding good jobs. These migrants must become legal residents of the company they wish to stay. An immigration lawyer will be able to supply them with the help they need to provide themselves with a legal home.

Immigration lawyers will have created and hold the correct papers for those wanting to stay in the land for life or more. Before one gets to the country they choose, the immigrant should contact the lawyer or started working with them. The lawyer will be able to tell you what you will need to be able to prepare for leaving the country you are born. The lawyer will also be able to assist in looking at those who are asking for citizenship. They will be able to find things positive to the immigrant. This will be a positive step in the case of tying to make a country home.

It is a necessary thing for the lawyer to become a solid reputable name in this sort of situation. It will pay off to provide a high amount of caution when looking for an immigration lawyer. You might find someone who is flighty and one who has no ethics. The lawyer is here to help you find the right type of services give you what you need. Dish Network DVR, Better Than the Original TiVo?

Surprisingly to some, TiVo is not the only vendor out there then it come to DVRs. There is also Dish Network, or as their product is officially called, the Dish Network DVR.

The amazing thing about this DVR is that the company has more units than any other company. So in a sense what TiVo started, Dish Network seems to be finishing. Probably the most likely reason Dish Network is winning this battle is the simple fact that they are giving it away for free as an incentive to purchase their entire Satellite TV package.

Its safe to say that the Dish Network DVR is very similar to that of TiVo. Again a DVR is a device that is basically a giant hard drive that let's you record live television.

Dish Network lets you record upwards to about 180 hours of television programing. Let me say for the record that this is A LOT of television. The number of hours is dependent on what kind of model you get from Dish Network. 100 hours is actually the norm.

Also very similar to TiVo, Dish is very easy to use and fairly straight forward in some of its options.

There are many options you can pursue and all of this takes place over the on-screen guide which I have found to be very easy to use.

As for the unit itself, I personally nor have anyone I have met come across any major expenses when it comes to servicing your Dish Network DVR. At the most is the inconvenience of swapping out the unite when you have a problem that cannot be fixed by the customer service people. And then the most you will incur is the cost of shipping the unit.

The question one really needs to ask yourself in terms of comparing the original TiVo to the Dish Network DVR is really whether or not Satellite Television, of which Dish Network is a part of, is right for you. Personally I prefer the original TiVo, but that is mostly because I have had it for much longer.

However, if you're a Satellite TV customer, then I really cannot say anything against getting a Dish Network DVR. You're programming experience is only sure to blossom!

Money Management Skills for Kids

I have a confession to make. I had no money skills growing up whatsoever. My parents lived paycheck to paycheck, and my mother frequently agonized over how to buy groceries for the week.

Because of our financial situation, there was rarely money for "extras" - going bowling, vacations, toys, books. Heck, we barely had money for necessities like clothes. When I was fifteen and old enough to work, I became responsible for buying my own clothes. As a teenager (and, don't forget - a girl!), I spent my money on outer clothes: shirts, pants, and the like. Underwear? Heck no! I wasn't going to spend my money on such a frivolous item as underwear.

As an adult now, I realize that not only did I not learn the money management skills I needed, but also that I learned some things I shouldn't have. Things like underwear aren't important. To this day I still have a hard time spending money on underwear and bras (although I recently bought three bras! Yea me! However, I have to admit that I still didn't like spending $40 apiece on them).

My mother shouldn't have shared quite so much with me; I grew up afraid to ask for anything that might involve money. It affected me in several ways, the most significant being that I only applied to two colleges. Since I had to pay the application fees myself (and working at a drugstore didn't give a teenager THAT much disposable income), I had a limited budget.

This article isn't supposed to make you feel sorry for me (I'm very happy where I am today - even with old, ratty bras), but to drive home how important it is to teach our children good money management skills.

Two years ago we implemented an allowance system for our girls. Once a week they get the dollar equivalent to 1/2 their age, and that amount is divided as follows:

- 20% to the charity of their choice

- 40% to savings

- 40% to disposable income.

Charity - Every six months, the girls pick a charity, and they decorate a jar with a picture of the particular charity. Each week, the charity money goes Plop! into the jar. So far we've donated to the National Zoo (pandas for six months and fishing cats for another six months), the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation, and Red Cross (for Hurricane Katrina relief). Picking the charity allows them to really think about the particular organization and their needs, and sometimes they'll donate extra money to the charity. And we match the donations as well.

Savings - We tell the girls that savings (essentially their piggy banks) are for long-term, big, important goals. I imagine this to be used for things like a school trip to Europe, down payment on a first car or house, or extra money for college. After six months, we count the money and then take it to the bank to deposit in their very own accounts.

Disposable income - This is for the girls to spend as they will. The first time they got allowance they spent it all on toy machines, and I had to almost physically hold my husband back as he tried to stop them. I wanted them to see what happened when they spent all their money, and feel what it was like when it was GONE! They've since graduated from that impulse to spend, spend, spend, and now they very consciously and determinedly save their disposable income for bigger things (like Barbie dolls or the current favorite, Sweet Streets. Yes, I have girls!).

We've found that the girls already have a strong understanding of money, from basic math (how many dimes are in a dollar) to the more complicated concept of interest (we go over their bank statements for their savings accounts together).

I'm happy to know that we're establishing a strong foundation for their money intelligence, and that they'll never shy away from buying underwear.

How To Talk with your Physician about Supporting your Disability Claim

Well, it happened again this week. What am I referring to? The all too familiar story of a treating physician who does not support a patients claim for disability benefits. This usually comes as a complete shock to the patient who thought the physician was in their corner (In this article I use physician interchangeably to mean medical physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists or podiatrists).

I am aware of this problem because I often talk with treating physicians about a clients disability claim. The client has told me they are certain the physician supports their claim. I am always surprised when the physician does not support the claim or does not "want to be involved in the claim." To be sure, the physicians response of "not wanting to be involved" is the same as not supporting your claim.

In this article I will discuss why is it critical to have the support of your treating physicians and hopefully how to obtain it.

Tip #1 The Support of a Treating Physician is Often Critical to Claim Approval

In a social security disability (SSA) claim, federal law gives the greatest weight to the opinions of treating physicians. If SSA has your physicians opinion that you are unable to work, you should have a strong case. If you do not have your physicians support, or they are silent on the issue of your disability, your claim will likely be compromised. This is not to say cannot win your case, but the mountain you must climb will be steeper without a physicians support.

The fact that SSA gives the greatest weight to your treating physicians opinion is critical because one of SSAs physicians (who may have only reviewed your records) will usually conclude that you are able to work. If confronted with differing opinions, federal law requires SSA or a judge to give greater weight to your physicians opinion because they know your medical condition best. Thus, if your physician has told SSA you are unable to work, SSA should use that opinion and approve your claim.

If your physician does not want to be involved in your disability case, or will not complete a form, this is the same as not supporting your claim. Why? Because you can bet SSA has an opinion in your file from its own physician that you can work. Without your physicians opinion, SSA will use its own physicians opinion (even if they have never seen you!) to deny your claim.

Thus, if your physician has told you he/she does not support your claim, or does complete disability forms, you have a real problem that needs to be addressed as soon as possible.

Tip #2 When to Talk with Your Physician About Supporting Your Disability Claim

Remember the old adage, Keep it Simple Stupid! Let this adage guide your conversation with your physician. First, you should talk with them about supporting your claim only after you have been evaluated by them 3 or 4 times, or after you feel they know your condition well.

Never talk with a physician about your claim after the first or even second visit. Why? Your first priority in the relationship should be for treatment that allows you to return to work. The physician will be very reluctant to support your disability claim if they believe you are motivated by disability benefits rather than getting better. The physician will be more willing to support your claim after they have treated you for a period of time without meaningful results.

Tip #3 How to Talk with Your Physician About Supporting Your Disability Claim

With all due respect to the medical community, many physicians do not know how SSA defines disability. The problem is most physicians think they know who is and is not disabled.

I know this to be true because I have personally spoken with hundreds of physicians whose definition of disability was completely different than SSAs. In almost every case, the physicians definition of disability is much stricter and harder to meet than SSAs definition!

Invariably, the treating physician concludes the patient is not disabled using their definition and will not support the case. However, after I explain SSAs definition, the physician agrees the patient is disabled and unable to work! The key to obtaining your physicians support is how you frame SSAs definition of disability.

Tip# 4 Discussing SSAs Definition of Disability with your Physician

To obtain the support of your physician, I believe the following is an effective approach. First, never tell your physician you are "disabled" or have a "permanent disability." Why? Because those expressions are terms of art our society uses but are totally irrelevant to a social security disability claim. Remember, your physician will usually save those labels for only their most seriously ill patients. You probably dont "look" like one of those patients.

Instead, ask the following questions. First, tell them you have filed a claim for disability benefits because you are "unable to sustain full time work." Ask your physician if they also believe you are "unable to sustain full time work at the present time." Notice that I did not use the words "disabled" or "permanent" in either question.

If your physician agrees with you then ask for their support for the next 18 to 24 months. Why such a short time? For one, this will get you past SSAs requirement that you be unable to work (or you are expected to be unable to work) for at least 12 months.

Second, most physicians believe disability is a "permanent" condition and once your claim is approved, you will never return to work. Countless physicians have told me they dont want to be put in the position of saying a patient is permanently disabled. You would not want to be put in that position either. Sodont put them in that position.

However, almost all physicians will agree that a patient is unable to work for a period of time. Your physician will feel more comfortable supporting your disability claim when they know it is for a limited period of time and that you want to return to work after a period of recuperation If after 18 to 24 months you are not able to return to work, then address the issue again with your physician.

If your physician does support your claim, ask them to please write into the medical record that you are unable to work and to document the reasons why. Conclusion

If you approach your physician in the manner discussed in this article I can assure you that you will have more success. I know this to be true because I use it every day when I talk with a physician about supporting a clients disability claim.

When Do You Need Mesothelioma Attorney

Mesothelioma is a type of preventable cancer that is caused by inhaling the dust or particles of the deadly mineral Asbestos. The symptoms range from shortness of breath, chest pains, and persistent cough in the early stages to abdominal pain, swelling and tumors growing in the tissues that surround the heart and if left untreated could cause death within 24 months.

It has a long latency period in that the symptoms of the disease can take many years to manifest, making both diagnosis and effective treatment very difficult. Therefore, people who worked with asbestos industry perhaps thirty or forty years ago are only now being diagnosed with this disease.

Many employers and manufacturers knew about the dangers of asbestos when they exposed employees to this material, but deliberately kept quiet and as the effects of this exposure are coming to light, these companies are being forced to pay out millions to sufferers. As more cases of Mesothelioma are reported, a wide range of lawyers and law firms have started to specialize in Mesothelioma law suits to get victims and their families the compensation they deserve.

Choose an attorney immediately after diagnosis, because there is a time limit set with regards to how long you have to take action against the Company. This varies from State to State and failing to adhere to this could render your case ineligible.

Look only for those experienced in dealing with Mesothelioma lawsuits as they will have the resources and contacts to deal with your case quickly and efficiently. You can search the Internet for a suitable attorney as this will enable you gauge how much experience each lawyer had in dealing with these lawsuits.

You need to discuss your case with your Attorney threadbare who will then evaluate your case and provide you with the options like whether you should pursue your case and if so which direction to take it in. as he should present a water-tight case.

Many attorneys will arrange for out of court settlements with substantial compensation payments, wherein you will not have to pay your attorney since a percentage of the compensation claimed will be collected by the attorney as contingency fee. And if they are not successful in getting compensation then you do not have to pay anything.

Even when the symptoms do become evident, they are so generalized and non-specific that they could be put down to any number of more common diseases which makes it difficult for your attorney to prove that it indeed was Mesothelioma and so also you could be unsure of when and where you were exposed to asbestos and your attorney will need to hire someone to look into this.
